Motorcycle engine parts

Motorcycle engine parts are essential to make a motorcycle move. Each engine part has a specific task to ensure mobility of the motorcycle. Engine parts of a motorcycle include air or oil filters, brakes and brake systems, gas tank, gas cap, starter switch, tachometer, speedometer, clutch and transmission, controls, electrical systems, handlebars and exhausts.

The motorcycle oil filter may be compared to the one on a car except many riders will chrome them since they appear as part of the engine. This ensures that the engine is cleared with unnecessary obstruction. The air cleaner filters the air that mixes with the gasoline in the carburetor. It is similar to the air cleaner in a car. The air cleaner often has a cover that readily identifies the bike; although, some bikes completely hide the air cleaner out of sight.

Brakes and brake systems provide its user with the control of the whole motorcycle. Motorcycles usually have two brakes, one of these is found on the right handle of the motorcycle and the other is found on the right foot of the rider.

On some bikes, the gas tank is there for appearance and tradition while the real gas tank hides beneath the skin of the bike somewhere to fill up unused space and provide for a better center of gravity. Motorcycle gas tanks can be quite small or quite large. Long distance riders will often have auxiliary gas tanks so they won't have to stop as often. Often the gas tank serves a purpose by holding a tank bag that provides additional storage or a place to display a map.

While some motorcycles have clutches, others don't. Clutches provide the rider with the control of shifting gears. Motorcycles with clutches are more difficult to use than those motorcycles that have automatic shifting gears. Shifting gears is a part of a motorcycle engine that provides its rider with the desired speed. It has five shifting modes, neutral, 1, 2, 3, and 4. These shifts have different speed and power. Although 4 may be the fast one, 1 has the stronger acceleration.

Exhausts are used to take away the burned gasoline that is used to mobilize a motorcycle. Exhausts must be cleaned at least once a month in order to prevent black smokes from coming out of it, which can damage both the motorcycle and the humans that will be able to breathe that black smoke.

Tachometer is a device that is used to measure the speed of an engine in rpm. It has a red line that should not be exceeded. Not all motorcycles have this device, but this is important. Speedometers have odometers to record mileage and trip meters that can be reset. And the starter, and ignition switch and pedal, these devices are used to start up a motorcycle engine; these devices are one of the fundamental parts of a motorcycle.
