The limit of cornering speed will be usually determined by lean clearance and tire adhesion and not suspension performance. Between what works straight up on a highway and what works for high performance riding are usually done by having trade offs. Out on the straight interstate where the big touring rigs rule, a relatively long travel soft and supple suspension will soak up the bumps and make the bike comfortable to ride for many miles a day. Push such a rig at the edge in a corner, though, and its long travel will collapse under the weight of the rig on the light springs and the soft dampening will allow it to wallow unmercifully.
